‘Dad’ star criticized for serving skate

Popular variety show “Dad! Where Are You Going?” came under fire for forcing some of its foreign cast to eat fermented skate.
In Sunday’s episode, local celebrity fathers and their children invited their foreign counterparts to spend some quality time together.
Among them, singer Yoon Min-soo and his son Hu had a meal at a Korean restaurant with an American guest and his son. Yoon at one point recommended that his guests eat fermented skate, presenting it as “delicious seafood.”
Some here consider the fish to be a delicacy, while others are turned off by its pungent smell.
Watching his foreign counterparts curiously chew at the fish, Yoon laughed out loud, an action that ended up causing a stir among viewers. “It’s not right to force foreigners to eat fermented skate,” one online commentator wrote. “The kid was almost crying.”
The production team for “Dad! Where Are You Going?” released a statement yesterday in response to the criticism, stating, “Nobody forced them to eat fermented skate. If the scene bothered some audience members, then it was just a matter of editing.”
