Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, left, welcomes visiting Korean Assembly Speaker Chung Ui-hwa, right, yesterday to the Japanese prime minister’s residence in Tokyo. Abe said in the meeting with Chung, “I hope the interaction of lawmakers gets more active and relations between Korea and Japan improve.” After the meeting, Chung told reporters that Abe expressed his expectation of having a bilateral summit meeting with Korean President Park Geun-hye on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Beijing or the G-20 Summit in Brisbane, Australia.
