Starbucks Korea begins its first barista training program

Starbucks Korea announced yesterday that it has opened a training course for aspiring baristas. The program is accredited by the Ministry of Employment and Labor as a corporate university program and is provided for free. The three-month program recently selected its first 20 applicants, and the initiation ceremony was held Monday at the headquarters of the coffee franchise in Sogong-dong, central Seoul. Starbucks Korea added that it sought out those from low-income brackets.

Instructors include Starbucks senior managers, consumer behavior professors and other professionals from the retail sector. Upon completing the program, the trainees will be eligible to work at Starbucks Korea.
