Since debuting in 2008 with “This Song,” 2AM has enjoyed enormous popularity, earning the nickname “balladol” - a compound word made up of “ballad” and “idol” - for their signature mellow sound. Now, the group is back after a year with “Let’s Talk,” an album of various styles.

From the lead-off song, the group boasts a sense of sophistication, musically and lyrically, through its 13 tracks. The album’s a cappella opener “To. AM (For You)” is an ode to fans with a catchy melody, while “Over the Destiny” yearns for a distant relationship and “Days Like Today” presents eternal love. Its mild yet speedy melody creates an enjoyable ambience in contrast to the lyrics.

Each member recorded a solo song for the album with a different style to show off their maturer musical talent. Seulong shows an especially sensational change with the erotic track “Loveskin.” Overall, 2AM are still heartbroken on the album but have taken on an alternative sound while experimenting with different styles. However, their voices still shine and they have mastered how to tell their stories.
