Covering demerits of school trips

I am writing in regards to the culture piece “Korean school vacations: a history” on Sept. 24, 2014. I hope you consider covering the demerits of school trips. I genuinely believe that the article was a disaster.

Recently, there were a considerable amount of accidents that happened during school trips, such as the April 16 sinking of the Sewol ferry.

There were approximately 325 students on board during the mishap, and most of them died. Furthermore, about a year ago, students fell in a deep river during a Marine Corps training camp and five of them died during training. All of these accidents occurred during school trips and there are still a great deal of accidents.

I am quite sure that it is time to fully recognize the accidents on these trips and find solutions to prevent similar accidents from happening. I hope you cover the demerits of school trips rather than the history so that it would raise awareness about the riskiness of school trips.
