SK Construction breaks ground on power plant in Chile
SK Engineering and Construction, Korea’s eighth-largest builder, said yesterday it has started construction on a $1.2 billion thermal power plant in Chile.
The facility, located near the Mejillones region in Antofagasta state, 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) north of Santiago, will include two 375 megawatt coal-fired generators and is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
The affiliate of SK Group is in charge of engineering, procurement and construction, as well as test operations, at the plant.
