Science Ministry to launch group for creative research
The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning will launch a private-sector research center called the X Research Project Commission today to fund creative and challenging experiments.
The government-funded project is modeled after Google X, which led to ideas such as self-driving cars, delivery drones, Google contact lenses and space elevators.
The commission will be made up of 12 experts including CEOs, engineers, media and sociology specialists, and will not contain any government employees. The commissioners will select an unconventional research theme that they think can be used to solve real-world problems.
