AB InBev announces new CEO of Oriental Brewery

AB InBev, the world’s largest beer maker and owner of Korea’s Oriental Brewery, announced Thursday that it has appointed Frederico Freire as the new CEO of OB.

Incumbent head Jang In-soo will be promoted to vice chairman of AB Inbev. Freire, who previously served as vice president of expansion and integration of the Belgium brewery in China, assumed the post on Thursday.

“I feel really honored and proud to join Korea’s largest brewery,” the new CEO said.

“I will incorporate AB InBev’s unrivaled global network and expertise in beer making into OB.”

OB said that the reshuffle is aimed at strengthening OB’s foothold amid Korea’s stiff competition.
