Lee gives gold medal skates to museum

Olympic gold medalist Lee Sang-hwa donated her skate blades used when she won two gold medals in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics to the Olympic Museum on the request of the museum, said her agent Brion Company on Tuesday.

“Lee Sang-hwa became the country’s first donor to the Olympic Museum,” said an official from the International Olympic Committee, which operates the museum, located in Laussane, Switzerland. “Visitors will love it.”

Lee said through her agent, “It is an honor for me to become the first Korean donor. I didn’t even hesitate to donate my blades because it means I could share my memory with many other sports fans.”

The museum reopened in December last year and displays more than 10,000 items related to Olympic sports. It is visited by more than 250,000 people each year.
