LG Electronics will reveal quantum-dot TV at CESLG Electronics said Tuesday it plans to unveil an ultra-high-definition TV that uses quantum-dot technology at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, which is scheduled to run from Jan. 6 in Las Vegas.
Quantum dots are nanocrystal semiconductor particles that become illuminated in different colors according to the light emissions and type of voltage they come into contact with.
According to the company, the Ultra HD TV applies a quantum-dot film on the LCD TV’s backlight to enhance the color of the images. It said that thanks to In-Plane-Switching (IPS) technology, the new TV will not only have a wider view but also color that is 30 percent brighter than existing LCD TVs.
