Sung, Ailee unite in SBS fest
Balladeer Sung Si-kyung and powerful vocalist Ailee will pair up for SBS’s upcoming year-end K-pop festival on Sunday night.
This is the first time Sung and Ailee will perform together, and the combination of the two is expected to intrigue music fans. Sung is well known for his mellow voice, while Ailee is a powerful female singer with an expansive vocal range.
The duet was recorded in a hotel lounge in central Seoul, where the two sang “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” one of the tracks included in Sung’s recent album “Winter Wonderland.”
During a recent press event prior to the release of “Winter Wonderland,” Sung praised Ailee’s vocals, saying, “I love her voice. I thought her voice would be similar to that of Park Jung-hyun, but her tone and voice was much deeper than I expected. She sings like an African-American singer.”
Ailee, one of a few solo female singers, has released a number of hits this year, such as “Don’t Touch Me.” She has often been referred to as Korea’s answer to Beyonce.
Sung will not appear in either of the two other K-pop festivals organized by KBS and MBC later this month.
