‘Infinite’ spinoff gains high ratings

“Saturday, Saturday is a Singer,” a year-end spinoff show from “Infinite Challenge” with music icons from the 1990s, earned an average viewership rating of 19.8 percent on Dec. 27, making it become the most watched show during its time slot.

The special program also recorded the highest ratings of the year for “Infinite Challenge,” which is a remarkable rate compared to its regular viewership of between 10 and 13 percent.

Well-known singers from the ’90s such as SES, Turbo and Kim Hyun-jung turned up for the show. Eugene of SES was unable to attend because she is pregnant, so Seo-hyun of Girls’ Generation replaced her instead.

Park Myung-soo, Jung Jun-ha and Lee Bon, the well-known host of a music show from the ’90s, acted as MCs.

The success of the special show proves that the fever of the ’90s still attracts viewers.

The fad for nostalgic songs will continue with “Saturday, Saturday is a Singer” next week with different guests.
