CNBlue lead preps solo work

More details about CNBlue front man Jung Yong-hwa’s upcoming solo album came out Sunday prior to its Jan. 20 release.

The 26-year-old singer’s first solo work will reportedly contain four collaborations with famous musicians.

Singer, rapper and actor Yang Dong-geun is featured on one of the tracks from Jung’s solo album, while another rapper, Verbal Jint, also gave the singer a helping hand.

Having started out in 2009 as the lead vocalist of CNBlue, Jung has released numerous albums as part of the quartet. But this is the first time he has gone solo.

During a recent interview with a local magazine, Jung shared his ambitious plans for his first album.

“When I am part of the band, I try to follow the mainstream within the group, but I like the fact that I can be as experimental with this solo album as much as I want,” he said.

“I think I can broaden the scope of my music through this project, and I also realized what I really want to achieve in music while working on this album.”

Jung is credited for his musical talent because he has been composing and writing songs for CNBlue for a long time.

“Can’t Stop,” one of his songs, earned rave reviews from critics and K-pop fans alike last year when it was released.

Jung is also leading a prolific career in acting. He recently appeared in the period film “The Three Musketeers” along with actors Lee Jin-wook and Yang Dong-geun.
