Koica to form volunteer corps

Korea International Cooperation Agency, a government agency that implements grant aid programs in developing countries, is set to recruit a corps of volunteers by Jan. 28 to be dispatched to nine countries, according to its website.

Participants will be sent to Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in South Asia; Cambodia and Thailand in Southeast Asia; Ethiopia and Uganda in Africa; Uzbekistan in Central Asia; and Jordan in the Middle East.

The volunteer corps is expected to leave in May and stay in the designated county for two years. The candidates can apply among 28 activities across five fields.

Volunteers must have Korean nationality and be at least 20 years old. Male candidates must have completed their military service in Korea or be exempt. Candidates eligible to serve as senior members must be at least 50 and possess more than 10 years of work experience.
