Taeyang starts up world tour

Taeyang, a member of the K-pop boy band Big Bang, finished the first concert of his inaugural solo world tour in Shanghai, China, on Saturday.

The series of concerts marked the first time for Taeyang to hold a solo tour outside of Korea, although he has toured with his fellow bandmates and other YG Entertainment singers in the past.

He began the Shanghai concert by singing “Body,” a track from his second album, and captivated about 3,500 local fans throughout the show with about 20 songs.

When he performed one of his hits “I Need a Girl,” the 27-year-old singer invited one of the ladies from the audience and presented a special performance for her.

He also sang “Good Boy,” a song he collaborated with G-Dragon on.

Taeyang will keep holding solo concerts in other countries. After having two more concerts in Guangzhou and Beijing, China later this month, he will fly to Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Taiwan to continue his world tour concerts.
