Suwon player named MVP for 5th round

Jeon Kwang-in, a left attacker playing for Suwon Kepco Vixtorm, was selected as the MVP of the 5th round of the Korea’s professional volleyball league (V-League), the Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) said on Monday.

Of the votes cast by reporters, he earned 16 out of 28, beating Cuba’s Leonardo Leyva Martinez, who plays for Daejeon Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Bluefangs. Jeon was also selected as MVP in the previous round.

The KOVO said that Jeon had the highest attacking success rate in the 5th round of the V-League with 57.6 percent. His club, Kepco Vixtorm, marked five wins and one loss in the 5th round, raising hopes they will make it to the playoffs.

Meanwhile, in women’s league, Nicole Fawcett of Korea Expressway Corporation Volleyball Club won the 5th round MVP with 14 votes, beating IBK Altos’ Kim Hee-jin who earned only seven.

The 28-year-old from the United States helped her club lead the league table, especially contributing to the offense.

Jeon and Fawcett will receive 1 million won as a prize.
