Ha Jae-joo

Senior researcher Ha Jae-joo at the state-run Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (Kaeri) was appointed as the head of the nuclear development division at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD-NEA), the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday.

The agency is an intergovernmental group under the OECD that mainly works on nuclear power and reactor safety.

This is the first time that a Korean has been appointed to an executive position at the OECD’s nuclear division since Korea joined the group in 1993.

Ha studied nuclear engineering at Seoul National University and Ohio State University, and is an expert in nuclear reactors with 25 years of experience specializing in nuclear power plant safety, research-purpose reactors and small-scale reactors.
