Rapper denies he plagiarized

Rapper Verbal Jint, who recently found himself at the center of a plagiarism scandal, refuted those allegations on Wednesday, claiming that his song “My Type” was a similar genre as “Post to Be” by American pop star Omarion.

“My Type” was composed by the 35-year-old rapper for the participants of the reality TV show “Unpretty Rapstar,” airing on Mnet.

After the song was unveiled to the public via the show, his critics raised issue with the song’s similarities to “Post to Be.”

Viewers said the introduction in “My Type” is similar to the beginning of “Post to Be.”

“Both songs fall to the category of ratchet [a sub-genre of rap],” the artist said in a press release on Wednesday.

“If you listen to both songs in their entirety, you will notice that the melodies and instrumental arrangements of the two songs are completely different.”
