KBO again revises its speed-up ruleThe Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said Monday it will change its so-called “speed-up” rule.
Earlier, the rule required players to keep at least one foot in the batter’s box.
Under the change, violators will be given a 200,000 won ($177) fine instead of an additional strike.
This new rule will take effect starting with today’s preseason preseason games.
The old rule drew complaints from players and coaches during the preseason games when strikes were assessed against hitters.
Some struck out without taking a single swing, and at least one hitter left the box by mistake.
According to the KBO, there were a total of eight cases in 34 games in which strikes were called after batters left the box.
