Organizers establish test event committee

The Pyeongchang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games said Monday it has launched an organizing committee for test events, tentatively named Pyeongchang Winter Series Foundation.

The new organizing committee held its inaugural meeting at the organizing committee office in Seoul, Korea, on Monday with representatives of stakeholders, including Korea’s seven national winter sports federations, Gangwon province and host and venue cities. Cho Yang-ho, committee president, was elected ex officio chairman of the board. The foundation will work closely with each stakeholder to ensure sound preparation for test events, the final stage of preparations.

A total of 28 international competitions will be staged by each winter sport International Federation at the Olympic and Paralympic Venues between February 2016 and April 2017.
