Ulsan Mobis Phoebus said on Tuesday it has a new five-year contract with current head coach Yoo Jae-hak. The current contract expires May 31.
After leading the Phoebus to the Korea Basketball League (KBL) championship in the 2009/10 season, Yoo signed a five-year contract with an annual salary of 400 million won ($354,000), the highest among KBL coaches.
For the new deal, the team didn’t unveil his salary.
Yoo, who turns 52 Friday, is the KBL’s longest-serving coach with one team. Yoo took helm of Phoebus in March 2004.
On Monday, Phoebus begins its KBL semifinal playoff against the Changwon LG Sakers, which beat Goyang Orions on Monday in Game 5. The Phoebus, this season’s regular season champion, is looking for its third straight KBL championship.
