Visitors enjoy some 150 artworks inspired by the life of Ahn Jung-geun (1879-1910), a Korean independence activist, at an exhibition marking the 105th anniversary of his death at the Yongsan District Office Art Hall, central Seoul. Ahn assassinated Japanese statesman Hirobumi Ito as part of his independence movement and was executed. Although in Japan he may be considered a killer, Ahn is revered in Korea as one of the country’s most celebrated independence fighters, not only for his act of resistance against Japanese colonization but also for his efforts to bring about peace in the East Asia region.
