Jail terms delayed for model and singer

Model Lee Ji-yeon and Kim Da-hee, a former member of the now defunct girl group Glam, were sentenced to 14 months and 12 months in jail, respectively, with a stay of execution for two years for threatening Korean Wave actor Lee Byung-hun during an appeals trial held on Thursday at the Seoul Central District Court.

Thus the two might avoid serving the actual sentence.

Model Lee was sentenced to 14 months in jail while Kim was sentenced to 12 months in jail during the first trial, but the two appealed.

As a reason for the stay of execution, Judge Cho Hu-ok said “The victim [actor Lee] did not want to punish the two.”

Actor Lee previously submitted a letter asking for the judges to be lenient in February.

The judge added that “The incident stemmed from the victim’s sexual jokes to the younger defendants.”

Actor Lee sued the two for blackmailing him with a video clip August last year that showed him making lewd comments over drinks with the two women. The two asked for 5 billion won ($4.4 million) from the actor in return for not publicly releasing the clip.
