Park So-youn places 12th in skating event
FIGURE SKATINGKorea’s Park So-youn finished 12th at the World Figure Skating Championships in Shanghai, failing to place inside the top 10.
This was Park’s second time participating in the Worlds. Last year, she finished ninth with a total score of 176.71.
The 18-year-old who attends Shinmok High School posted 160.75 points in total after scoring 106.80 points in the women’s free skating and 53.95 points in the short program on Thursday.
Meanwhile, her compatriot and rival Kim Hae-jin finished 19th with a total score of 136.24 points. She had only 86.21 points in the free skating and 50.03 points in the short program. However, the Gwacheon High School Student was able to finish better than last year’s Worlds, in which she finished 23rd.
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva of Russia won the women’s event with a score of 210.36 points, beating Japan’s Satoko Miyahara, who had 193.60 points.
