April 16 marks 12 months since the accident that killed more than 300 people, most of them Danwon High School students from Ansan, Gyeonggi.
Nineteen participating acts announced on Monday that the album is to commemorate the victims of the disaster
There are 19 songs on the album, which is composed of two CDs. It will be released on Wednesday.
The artists who participated in making the album, including Yozoh, Jeong Min-ah, Park Hye-ri, have announced that they are aiming to become a musicians’ labor union.
The group is planning to donate all the profits from the album to the Sewol ferry task force.
They mentioned that they “don’t want the songs to become political” and added that they expect the songs to have “healing and consoling effects.”
Musician Union, the name of the group, will also be putting on various concerts, one of which will be held at 6 p.m. on April 26 in Hongdae, western Seoul.
