Shhh! Quiet car conference coming to Seoul next week
Seoul will hosting an international conference for low-noise automobiles later this week. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on Tuesday, the United Nations World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations will be held for three days starting Monday at the Pacific Hotel in central Seoul.The committee will discuss how to control car noise, which is considered a type of pollution, while maintaining vehicle safety standards. One of the issues to be discussed involves electric cars, which are quieter than gas-powered vehicles.
But that can endanger pedestrians in danger, who can’t hear the vehicles approaching. The forum will discuss the criteria for compulsory sounds in electric cars.
