LG Chem will supply batteriesto Chinese bus manufacturers

LG Chem said Sunday it inked a deal to supply electric-vehicle batteries to two Chinese companies: Nanjing Golden Dragon Bus and Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company. The company said the batteries will be used for Nanjing company’s next-generation electric bus and Dongfeng’s small buses. Established in 2000, the Nanjing company became one of China’s top five electric bus sellers with a revenue of 1.3 billion yuan ($209.6 million) last year. Dongfeng specializes in commercial vehicles. According to Lux Research, the global electric bus market will grow from 20,000 units this year to 44,000 in 2020.
