Bobby Kim sentenced for sex assault

R&B singer Bobby Kim was sentenced to a year in prison with two years’ probation on Monday for sexually assaulting a female crew member on an airplane in January. In addition to the sentence, he will also have to pay a 5 million won ($4,500) fine.

The Korean-American celebrity, who yelled and created a disturbance after drinking alcohol on a Korean Air flight traveling from Incheon to San Francisco, had complaints filed against him by Korean Air. He was charged on April 28 for breaching aviation safety law.

The prosecution requested that the court order the 42-year-old to take educational programs designed for sexual violence offenders.

Although he partly acknowledged his crime during the trial, he claimed he does not remember any specific details because he was under the influence of alcohol.
