Busan KT players sought in betting investigation
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said on Tuesday it will begin summoning officials and players from Busan KT Sonicboom and Anyang KGC in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) next week following its investigation of KGC coach Jeon Chang-jin, who allegedly bet 300 million won ($273,000) against his team in February. The police said that they will be questioned as witnesses in the case, not as suspects.
Jeon, who used to coach the Sonicboom, is suspected of deliberately using bench players in the second half to ensure his team’s loss.
The police said the evidence it received from the KBL was just a score card, which wasn’t useful to its investigation. After questioning some team officials and players, police said that it will summon Jeon this month.
