Posco on top of the world for the sixth consecutive year

Posco has been recognized as the No. 1 steelmaker for the sixth consecutive year in the World-Class Steelmaker Rankings by World Steel Dynamics (WSD), the company said Tuesday.
At the 30th Steel Success Strategies event in New York, the WSD announced Posco receive the best score of 36 global steelmakers that were evaluated in 23 categories, including total production output, profitability, technology innovation, cost reduction and financial solvency.
Posco scored 7.91 points out of 10, followed by Nucor of the United States (7.55) and Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation of Japan (7.49).
At the event held under the theme of “Just the Beginning,” slow growth in the steel industry was predicted to continue until 2017.
