SPC Group and eBay Korea announce MOU, collaborations

SPC Group said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with eBay Korea to collaborate on marketing and online-to-offline services.

Online-to-offline refers to strategies that draw potential customers from online channels to physical, offline stores.

SPC and eBay Korea will forge a strategic alliance with their membership point reward programs.

The two companies will also collaborate on promotions linking online and offline stores, and promote “smart order” systems for pre-ordering.

As the first in a series of collaborations to come, SPC Group and eBay Korea will jointly hold a “cool summer event with Paris Baguette and eBay.”

On SPC’s commerce site G9, consumers can buy six types of mobile coupons for different kinds of ice flakes and breads at 20 percent off.

The promotion will also be held at Auction and Gmarket sites in the near future.

SPC owns Paris Baguette, Baskin Robbins, Dunkin’ Donuts, Pascucci and Jamba Juice, and operates 6,000 different stores across Korea.

eBay Korea is the country’s biggest online commerce company and operates Gmarket, Auction and G9.

“This MOU brings together two very competitive players in online and offline industries,” said SPC Group official. “We expect great synergy between us.

“Together we will take a lead in the emerging online to offline trends through very diverse and creative collaboration.”
