Park Si-yeon wins case against firm
Actress Park Si-yeon won a case on Wednesday against a wig company that used her image without authorization. The 36-year-old was compensated with 40 million won ($36,000) from the business she used to model for.
Park signed a contract in May 2010 to model for the brand for a year.
However, the company used Park’s image for an additional year and four months after the contract ended.
According to the contract between Park and the wig company, the actress was to receive 5 million won every month during the agreed period. Based on this calculation, the Seoul Central District Court decided that Park suffered losses of around 78 million won.
Even though Park’s agency, Mystic Entertainment, demanded that the company compensate both Park and itself with 80 million won (half for Park and half for the agency), the request was denied as the actress is the direct victim of the case, the court said.
