Hyundai Motor works on the infrastructure for PHEVs

Before introducing its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Sonata sedan in July, Hyundai Motor is setting up the necessary infrastructure, the company said on Sunday.

The nation’s leading automaker said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Posco ICT to provide 120 charging stations for PHEV and electric vehicles at retail discount stores, department stores and movie theaters in the country’s major cities including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Busan and Jeju Island.

Hyundai will provide charging devices while Posco ICT will manage the stations. Hyundai Motor said it will also provide charging systems at its 2,200 shops nationwide including dealerships in the future.
