With homer, Choo hits 500th RBI milestone
Choo Shin-soo of the Texas Rangers hit his ninth home run of the season and collected his 500th career RBI during a game against the Orioles on Monday at Camden Yards in Baltimore.Choo, who batted second in the lineup and played right field, went 3-for-5.
The 32-year-old singled to left field in the first inning, then was thrown out trying to steal.
He struck out in the third, then launched a solo shot over the right-field fence off Orioles starter Bud Norris.
It was Choo’s first home run since a three-run shot June 3 against the Chicago White Sox.
The home run also gave Choo his first RBI since June 14 against the Minnesota Twins and the 500th of his 11-year career. The Busan native got his first RBI on May 4, 2005 against the Los Angeles Angels when he was with the Seattle Mariners.
Choo also singled in the seventh in an 8-1 Rangers win.
