KT and Nokia open IoT lab to work on 5G technologies

Telecommunication provider KT and its global partner Nokia on Tuesday held an opening ceremony for the Internet of Things (IoT) Lab at Nokia Korea in Samsung-dong, southern Seoul.

Domestic small to mid-sized telecommunication companies are expected to get technological support and opportunities to expand overseas from the lab.

KT and Nokia will cooperate on 5G technology including 5G standardization activities and 5G trials for the international Winter Olympics in PyeongChang in 2018.

The lab will hold an IoT contest to find innovative ideas for future IoT technology. It is targeted at undergraduate and graduate students and potential businessmen. Applicants can apply for the contest from June 30 to August at the IoT contest website.
