Park Hyatt Seoul

July 23: Park Hyatt Seoul presents the Masters of Food & Wine on July 23, which is also known as Jungbok, one of the hottest days of the year.

This gala is based on the Korean tradition of avoiding the ill effects of hot summer days and improving stamina by eating healthy food. The four-course dinner includes abalone porridge, boiled Korean chicken stew with black garlic, broiled river eel and dessert with a matching traditional Korean beverage for each course.

Junbok juk, porridge prepared with Korean abalone, is offered as the first course, along with dae tong ip sool, traditional liquor with rice and various medicinal herbs and a thick bamboo aroma. Black garlic samgyetang, which uses black garlic that contains 10 times the amount of polyphenol - known to boast sterilization and anti-biotic effects and enhance immunity - than regular garlic, will follow. Jangeo gui (grilled eel) with chili sauce will be served before the dessert course, red ginseng sweet potato cake with sweet pumpkin rice punch. The dinner is 120,000 won including tax. To Sept. 30: Located on top of the Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel, the Lobby Lounge.Bar presents four kinds of colorful cocktails, “Cocktail in Bottle,” made with seasonal ingredients, bright fruits and fresh juices to cool down for the summer. The Lobby Lounge.Bar presents the perfect atmosphere to enjoy its new refreshingly cool cocktails.

Guests can indulge in the fresh mix of American whisky and apple mint-infused mint julep, or the gin-based honey negroni, a mouthwatering combination of Campari, sweet vermouth and a touch of honey.

One perfect refreshing cocktail is the Cool Passion Fruit, a mix of vodka, passion fruit and orange juice. Lastly, the Blue Lemon Beach, garnished with rock sugar and Blue Curacao syrup is a perfect addition for the summer.

Grand Hilton Seoul

To July 31: The Grand Hilton Seoul is starting early-bird ticket sales for its renowned Oktoberfest celebration, which replicates the festive mood of the annual beer festival held in Munich, Germany. Early-bird tickets for the 2015 Grand Hilton Oktoberfest on Sept. 5 are available for a 15 percent discount at 120,000 won ($105). The regular price is 140,000 won. This year is the Grand Hilton Seoul’s ninth Oktoberfest, garnering about 1,000 attendees every year.

To live up to the reputation of the original German festival, the event features traditional German food and unlimited Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier and Paulaner Oktoberfest Lager on tap, as well as a variety of other beers including Becks.

Various games will be held, plus a lucky draw offering various prizes including airline tickets and hotel vouchers.
