Starbucks Korea hiring 500 baristas to celebrate 16th year

Starbucks Korea on Monday announced that to celebrate its 16th anniversary it will be hiring 500 baristas. It has started accepting resumes online (http://job.shinsegae.com), and the deadline for applications is July 30.

The coffee franchise said that anyone above the age of 20 can apply for the job, and it will give priority to children of military families as well as families who have received national merits.

The baristas will work 25 hours a week for five days and will receive the four main insurances will as well as other benefits including national holiday bonuses.

They will be also given the opportunity to be promoted to higher positions including branch manager as well as supervisor.

The company added that it will also be hiring baristas with physical or mental disabilities. The company said it has been hiring people with disabilities since 2007 and as of June it has 118 employees with disabilities.

Starbucks Korea said it has decided to hire so many baristas this year in hopes of contributing to easing the youth unemployment rate due to the struggling economy.
