The Korean media outlet cited several people associated with the program who confirmed the entertainer’s participation in the new project.
This will be the first time the 28-year-old has appeared on the small screen since his last program, “The King of Dramas,” which aired from Nov. 2012 to Jan. 2013.
In the upcoming romantic comedy drama, Choi will take on the lead role of magazine feature editor Kim Sin-hyuk, whose talent include film, fashion and photography.
Kim is portrayed as a generous man who never reveals his inner thoughts, adding to his mysterious image.
The story unfolds as Kim gradually begins to fall in love with his friend, Hye-jin, played by actress Hwang Jung-eum. The upcoming series is a follow-up to “Scholar Who Walks the Night” and will be released around September.
Choi has extended his acting career internationally over the years. Some of his more recent starring roles include the Hong Kong crime thriller “Helios” (2015) and Chinese-Hong Kong historical action flick “Dragon Blade” (2015).
The actor has also appeared in foreign dramas, such as the Chinese “Fall In Love With You Again” (2012) and Taiwanese-Japanese co-produced “Skip Beat!” (2011-12).
