Exo to star in Japanese doc

All-male act Exo has been confirmed to participate in a Japanese reality program under their name, a first for a Korean idol group. The first episode will air on Friday.

“Popular boy act Exo will be broadcasted in ‘Exo Channel’ through TV Tokyo,” according to Japanese media outlet Oricon Style.

“The show will be in the form of a documentary, and the boy members will honestly open up during the program.”

“We’re very grateful for being given the opportunity to take part in a regular program even though we don’t go to the island country often,” said Exo member Suho.

“I really hope that [our fans] will feel closer to us [through the program]. And we hope to meet [them] in a concert this fall instead of just on the small screen.”

Exo has a huge following in Japan and have scheduled three concerts at the Tokyo Dome from Nov. 6. The male act will also hold three shows at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka from Nov. 13.

As a result, Exo, who came onto the scene in January 2012, will hold the record for shortest time between a foreign artist’s debut and their holding of two performances at domes, the largest concert venues in Japan.

Around 300,000 fans are expected to show up for their six live concerts.
