In addition to the superstar, various idol groups such as Infinite, GOT7 and U-Kiss have also been invited to take part in the event.
The festival aims to boost tourism, which nosedived during the outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome, and hopes to attract foreigners by offering special perks and discounts.
The Culture Ministry said special seats will be reserved for foreign tourists, who will also be provided with information about tours around the nation.
“We chose Seoul Plaza as the venue for this event because it is located in central Seoul and also surrounded by various places that show off our nation’s history to visitors,” the ministry said.
The festival will be recorded and aired on Korean satellite channels and on channels in countries like China and Japan.
During the event, several companies involved with cosmetics, live shows and theme parks will hand out discounts and other information to foreigners.
