Iran falls to Korea at Asian Championship

At the Azadi Sport Complex in Tehran, Korea defeated host Iran 3-1 (17-25, 28-26, 25-20, 25-23). The team, led by coach Moon Yong-gwan, had not beaten Iran in its last seven encounters since the 2008 Asian Men’s Cup Volleyball Championship.
The clash between the two countries was a rematch of the 2013 final in which Korea was shut out by Iran. However, Korea, ranked world No. 16, got its revenge against Iran, which is top-ranked among Asian countries at world No. 10. The team will face arch rival Japan tonight in the quarter finals.
