Iran falls to Korea at Asian Championship
Korea beat Iran for the first time in seven years at the 2015 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship on Wednesday (Korean time), maintaining its unbeaten streak at the event.At the Azadi Sport Complex in Tehran, Korea defeated host Iran 3-1 (17-25, 28-26, 25-20, 25-23). The team, led by coach Moon Yong-gwan, had not beaten Iran in its last seven encounters since the 2008 Asian Men’s Cup Volleyball Championship.
The clash between the two countries was a rematch of the 2013 final in which Korea was shut out by Iran. However, Korea, ranked world No. 16, got its revenge against Iran, which is top-ranked among Asian countries at world No. 10. The team will face arch rival Japan tonight in the quarter finals.
