Shinhan Card releases apps for smartwatches

Shinhan Card on Monday became the first company in the Korean financial industry to create apps for the Apple Watch.
According to the credit card issuer, it will provide three different apps: a credit card app, a smart manager and an “All that shopping & wallet” app.
The credit card app will make payments easy. All the user needs to do is open the app on an Apple Watch and punch in a six-digit personal number. That will prompt a payment barcode to appear on-screen.
The smart manager will allow the user to monitor recent spending, including the prices and descriptions of the things purchased.
“All that shopping & wallet” is an app that processes mobile discount coupons. It automatically provides information on special discounts available in real time.
If a user already has the apps on his or her iPhone, all three will automatically be installed on the watch.
This is not the first smartwatch app by Shinhan Card. In June it launched apps exclusively for smartwatches that run the Android operating system. The financial app service works on the LG Electronics G Watch R, G Watch Urbane as well as Motorola’s Moto 360, Sony’s SmartWatch 3 and ASUS’s ZenWatch. Shinhan Card plans to customize the apps for the Samsung Gear S as well.
“The Apple watch app is significant because it pushes our fintech service to the latest wearable device,” said a Shinhan Card official.
