Kim falls short of IAFF championship finals
Kim Deok-hyeon failed to advance to the men’s triple jump finals at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics on Wednesday.At the Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing, Kim finished the qualifiers with a record 16.72 meters (54.86 feet) to finish 14th among 28 participants.
In this championship, triple jumpers who jump over 17 meters in their three attempts advance to finals automatically. The top 12 finishers also move forward.
Kim, 30, was just one centimeter short of Bahamian Leevan Sands, who grabbed the last ticket to the finals.
