Carbonated-water beverage Trevi sees surge in revenues

Lotte Chilsung’s carbonated water Trevi has seen a significant surge in sales. According to the beverage company, revenue for the carbonated water in the first half amounted to 20 billion won.

This is a 200 percent increase compared to the 6.7 billion won seen during the same period last year. In the second half, the company saw 13.3 billion won.

Lotte Chilsung said the surge in popularity of the beverage was largely thanks to its strategy in including flavor to the drinks. The plain water only accounted for 12 percent of total revenues, whereas lime- and lemon-flavored Trevi accounted for roughly 40 percent.

The grapefruit flavor released in April accounted for 8 percent. The nation’s carbonated-water market is expected to amount to approximately 80 billion won and 100 billion won.
