Koreans in Premier list despite MLB reluctance

Two Koreans in Major League Baseball (MLB) - Kang Jung-ho of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Choo Shin-soo of the Texas Rangers - are included in Korea’s preliminary roster for the Premier 12 tournament despite reports that the MLB will not authorize its players on a 40-man MLB roster to play the inaugural event.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) on Tuesday announced a 45-man preliminary list for the Premier 12 which includes Kang and Choo. The KBO said that since it hasn’t received official documents from the MLB, it decided to include the players. The KBO will submit the list to the World Baseball Softball Confederation by Thursday and begin trimming for the final squad by Oct. 10.
