Fowler’s Deutsche Bank win thanks to 40-ft putt

NORTON, Massachusetts - Rickie Fowler won the Deutsche Bank Championship with one big putt. Henrik Stenson might have lost it with one big mistake.

Fowler rallied from two shots behind with five holes to play by making a 40-foot birdie putt on the 14th. He played flawlessly the rest of the way for a 3-under 68 and a one-shot victory Monday at the TPC Boston. Stenson never trailed until his tee shot on the par-3 16th came up short and bounced into the water for a double bogey. One shot behind, the Swede could never catch up and had to settle for a 70. It was Stenson’s second runner-up finish in the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Fowler won for the third time this year and moved to No. 5 in the world.
