Actors, producers talk ‘Veteran’ sequel

Fans of the star-studded movie “Veteran” (2015), starring Hwang Jung-min, Yoo Ah-in and Yoo Hae-jin, will be able to enjoy a second installment of the film in two or three years.

Due to the immense popularity that the cop action comedy has enjoyed, the production crew and actors have decided to work on a sequel. The subject material is still being discussed.

According to director Ryoo Seung-wan, “The decision to create a sequel has been confirmed, and we’re looking for the material. [We’re] currently searching for who the public feels intrigued about and which social issue they are interested in,” reported Korean media outlet OSEN.

Regarding the question of whether Hwang, who showcased splendid acting in the flick, will be participating, Ryoo explained, “Even though specific details have not yet been made, I believe he certainly should take part in the project.”

The film has become the second Korean movie to sell more than 10 million tickets this year after the historical film “Assassination,” which was released in July. “Veteran” has racked up more than 12 million total ticket sales as of this week.
