Google hires former Hyundai exec for driverless cars move

Google has hired John Krafcik, a former Hyundai Motor executive, to head its driverless car effort as the search engine giant pushes for broader adoption of the new technology.

Krafcik, will join the project later this month in his new position as chief executive officer, the company said in an email. Most recently, Krafcik has been president of TrueCar, the online auto-buying service. He previously led Hyundai Motor’s U.S. operations.

Google, aiming for returns on its long-term strategies, is looking for new ways to make driverless cars more widely accepted after years of testing. Bloomberg
