Noh Hong-chul back on TV

Entertainer Noh Hong-chul will soon return to the spotlight through a special variety program that will be aired during the Chuseok (harvest festival) holiday next week. The program will consist of two episodes.

The program portrays Noh and four other men in their 20s and 30s, all of whom are utter strangers to the celebrity, going backpacking in Europe, according to a person affiliated with the program on Friday.

Provided with only minimal living expenses, the five men must try to survive while travelling by hitchhiking and finding creative ways to earn money in foreign lands.

The series will air on Sept. 27 and Sept. 28 at 11 p.m. Since it is a pilot program, the show may become a regular entertainment program depending on the public’s response.

The upcoming appearance by Noh is generating a lot of attention because it will be the first TV appearance by the 36-year-old since he quit all of his entertainment activities after being accused of driving under the influence of alcohol last November.

While some people are welcoming Noh’s return, others argue that 10 months is not enough time for self-reflection.

The entertainer was given back his driver’s license after receiving a presidential special pardon on Aug. 14, commemorating the 70th anniversary of Liberation Day.
