A group of international fan clubs of singer-actor U-Know from the male duo TVXQ has once again donated large amounts of rice to residents of Gwangju, the TV personality’s hometown.

The Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, a local charity, revealed on Wednesday that 9.5 tons of rice worth 29 million won ($24,000) have been donated to low-income children and seniors living alone in the city.

The fan clubs, which are made up of members from various countries including China, Japan and Malaysia, are reported to have participated in fund-raising activities to celebrate the broadcast of U-Know’s web drama “I Order You,” which was first aired in early July. A total of 35.94 tons of rice was amassed through the fund-raising effort.

“U-Know’s particular love for his hometown, Gwangju, is well-known among his fans,” said one of his followers who took part in the fund-raising activities. “And many fans have been offering scholarships to the high school he attended and visiting various welfare facilities in the city to perform volunteer service.”

This is not the first time that the male celebrity’s fans have donated rice to residents in Gwangju. Last year, they donated rice to various institutions within the city.
